If you look at the picture here, you will see a well worn path amidst the trees. Someone who went before made it. Others who came behind reinforced it. But, if you were the first to have to walk through this forest, the trees would be overwhelming. One could feel lost, alone and possibly afraid. Every sense you have would be on high alert. This is how it feels to get a cancer diagnosis for many people. We will begin a journey we didn't ask to take. We will be forced to make decisions we never dreamed of making. We will have to take a deep breath and make a step forward not knowing where we will end up. The path will only begin to take shape as we move. Overtime, a trail will be blazed by courage, tenacity, fight and faith. The trail will be left as a remembrance of God's faithfulness and a path to help others who are coming behind.
I've always found it difficult to write about myself. I never really know what people want to hear. I don't want to put out accolades and accomplishments because then it becomes about me and that is not what I want this site to be about. But here is the skinny on me. I'm a daughter to the most wonderful mom any daughter could have. I have been married to my college sweetheart for over thirty-five years, you will meet him through my story, we have three grown sons, two daughter-in-loves, and six grandchildren. I am a registered nurse and former business owner. I love to garden, spend time with family, travel and my favorite place in the world to be is at the beach. But the most important thing you should know, is that I love Jesus! It is my desire to live a life pleasing to Him. For me, Heaven on earth is a cup of coffee, sitting on the beach with a good book in hand.
If you ask people what got them through their cancer journey, you will hear as many answers as people you asked. My answer to this question is found in Isaiah 43:1-3. Someone painted this painting for me who had no idea this was my "fight passage." What a gift from God.
"But now, thus says the LORD, who created you O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel; "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned. Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;" (New King James Version Bible, 2004, Isaiah 43:1-3a)
