Oh my goodness, I can't say enough about these little drops! I would keep them in my mouth to keep the horrible metallic taste from the chemotherapy under control and they helped with nausea.
Chemotherapy as well as the other medications can cause dry mouth and painful sores. The doctors told me to use Biotene to avoid this. It really does work! I used the gel after brushing and anytime my mouth felt like it was getting dry and the rinse twice daily. Don't wait until it's too late, use it as a preventative.
My lips were destroyed after my chemotherapy treatments. I tried just about every single lip balm out there. Either the smell would get to me, it would sting, or it felt watery. This was a last ditch try and I have to say it helped. I still use it to this day.
Yep you read that right. A journal was one of my favorite items. I wrote in it just about every day. It helped me keep busy, plus I would write in it just after the doctors would leave so I could process what they said later. I would also list the blessings of the day which was a great habit to get into.
For men or women having a trifusion line placed, having a two piece button up pajama outfit worked better than a solid top. This allowed for all IV lines to slide through the buttons and made it easier for getting around and for dressing changes. I got one in every color.
It took me forever for my hair to finally start growing. My hair was only about two and a half inches in length a year and a half post transplant. I began to research and found that rosemary oil would help. However, my physician didn't want me to excite my new immune system as it can be harsh on the scalp. So I found this shampoo. It's gentle and I do feel it helped a little. Plus it smells nice!
My dermatologist told me to get this over the counter cream. The chemotherapy had made my skin so dry and irritated. It is really a little miracle cream. My skin is so soft after using and stays that way all day. Again, ask your doctor before applying anything to your skin.
Red light therapy is taking the science community by storm. More and more we are learning the benefits of this treatment. For me, the results were amazing! At one year post transplant, I had some hair but it was very thin and my oncologist told me that may be all that comes in. I then tried the rosemary shampoo, which I think helped a little, but my hair was still very thin. I was then introduced to Renoja Health and Wellness in North Carolina. I had two treatments and to my amazement... my hair began to grow! Without getting all nerdy, the science is that the red lights penetrate deeply into the tissue causing dilation of the blood vessels which leads to improved circulation and decreased inflammation. The result is healthier skin and for me, hair growth. I'm so convinced of its benefits, my husband and I are opening a Renoja Health and Wellness right here in the greater Orlando area so it is available to more people.
